Malnutrition
Malnutrition is a condition in which the person has consumed inadequate or excessive intake of nutrients, difficulties in digestion, inability of the body to metabolize. The unbalanced and improper diet results in malnutrition. Poor absorption of food and excessive loss of essential food nutrients also results in malnutrition.
Apart from the above mentioned reasons, there are other reasons also for malnutrition. Some of the major reasons are:
• Starvation is one important cause of malnutrition.
• Indigestion of essential vitamins in the body also leads to malnutrition.
• Low level living conditions, bad quality of drinking water, food is also responsible for the malnutrition. The cases of malnutrition are common in third world countries and developing countries.
• Consumption of same kind of nutrition over the period of time also causes malnutrition. The practice causes "Obesity".
The symptoms of malnutrition vary with the kind of malnutrition deficiency. The malnutrition can be recognized even with general symptoms which are:
• Dizziness
• Decreased immune response
• Muscle Twitches
• disorientation
• Swollen and bleeding gums
• Underweight
• Weight loss
• Decaying teeth with cracking of lips.
• Dry skin
• Poor growth of hairs and nails
• anemia
• diarrhea
• Loss in weight
• goiter (enlarged thyroid gland)
• muscle twitches
• Low energy
